Catherine’s Role

Catherine has been serving in Cambodia with Global Interaction since July 2009.  After full time cultural and language learning, she relocated to north-west Cambodia in 2011 to join the team of a small non-government organisation (NGO) focused on sport, education and development.  Through activities including volleyball, football, mentoring, English teaching, Kids Club and working at a Drug Detention Centre, she has been privileged to journey with children, young people and their families in the stories of their lives.

In late 2013, the NGO wrapped up its work, successfully handing over a number of sports and education activities to be run by local Khmer people.

With a background in social work and social policy, Cath will be working to help establish the foundation for a new team as she returns to Cambodia for a second term of service, including establishing relationships with local church and community leaders, completing a needs analysis and identifying new ministry  opportunities in Siem Reap. This is one of the least-reached areas of Cambodia.

She is passionate about sharing God’s stories with people and about journeying with them as they learn and grow in Him, and she is looking forward to seeing Him continue to work out His transformation in this amazing land.

Mission, Vision & Values

Global Interaction exists to…

Empower communities to develop their own distinctive ways of following Jesus.

We see…

Growing, vibrant faith communities engaging least-reached groups with Jesus.

Australian Baptists rejuvenated through greater missional engagement in cross-cultural mission through prayer, giving, understanding and going.

Dependence on God: We value discerning God’s unique leading and direction, and we commit to a faith-filled response.

Contextualised Gospel: We value expressing faith in Jesus in ways that make it understandable and accessible within different cultures.

Innovation: We value creative thinking and appropriate risk-taking.

Authentic Relationships: We value genuine relationships based on respect, trust, compassion, honesty.

Teamwork: We value people working together for a common goal.

Sustainability: We value ministry and practice to deliver long-term Kingdom benefits.

Life-long Learning: We value continual, focussed and intentional learning and development that equips and resources each person for life and ministry.
